7 simple ways to get Coconut Oil Benefits

Having had this site up for almost 3 years now, I can’t tell you how many emails we’ve gotten on how just simply eating some coconut oil (or oil pulling with it) has changed lives. The MCT fat expedites weight loss (it burns fat), the lauric acid is amazing for it’s anti-cancer properties, and one of my favorites is the fact that cold pressed coconut oil is anti-fungal and can kill candidas and help heal your gut. You can literally cure IBS, Ulcers, Obesity, Alzheimers. You can create a body full with energy and vigor. More often than not, people DON’T take coconut oil because they just don’t understand how to take it. This site is all about simplicity, it’s about changing habits and mindsets, so I’ve compiled a list of 10 easy ways to get cold pressed coconut oil into your diet. Remember, you must use COLD PRESSED COCONUT OIL. It’s not as easy to buy as you think due largely to all the varying brands which are mostly expeller pressed.  Here’s a link to understanding buying it. 

 

1) Eat it straight up!

eat2l3I know it seems completely scary, but the fact is, it isn’t bad at all. If it’s cooler in your house (considering it’s -11 outside today, it’s cool enough inside), then the oil will be thicker. If it’s warmer inside, it will be more liquified. In both cases, it goes down easy. There are no sugars involved, so you only taste a hint of coconut. I mean, would you rather eat a spoonful of coconut oil daily or take a prescription medicine? Come on folks….

 

2) Put it in your coffee!

A_small_cup_of_coffeeSo incredibly simple. Literally just put it in your coffee and stir it. It will melt and not only does it add a hint of flavor, it makes your lips feel amazing! If you drink coffee, this is a must do! You are adding so much health into your life! If you buy your coffee at a place like Starbucks or Coffee Bean, no prob, just bring the coconut oil with you and put it in yourself. I do it all the time! There is no shame in my health game!

 

3) Put it in your oatmeal!

Porridge with berries (1)Easy. Simple Effective. Taste amazing. Once your oatmeal is finished, pour it in a bowl then take a spoonful of coconut oil and stir it in. It gives an amazing taste and texture to the oatmeal. Plus, the carbs from the oats absorb a little slower due to the presence of healthy fat.

 

4) Cook your eggs with it!

ScrambledEggLets keep it simple. You cook eggs, right? You put oil in the pan, right? Just use coconut oil as your cooking oil. The eggs will soak it right up and add a great flavor. Did you know that olive oil almost always turns rancid when you cook with it? You probably didn’t. Did you know that coconut oil has the highest smoke point and rarely if ever turns rancid? This means coconut oil maintains it’s health properties throughout the cooking process.

 

5) Cook Shrimp in it!

shrimpThis is my absolute favorite. It seriously taste amazing. Again, take a glob, put it on the pan, heat the pan, once the coconut oil melts down, put the shrimp in with any seasonings you enjoy. I actually enjoy a little cayenne and pepper dashed in, I think it taste really great along side the coconut oil.

 

6) Put it on a baked potato!

PotatoesBaked1What? See that glob of butter on top? Ok, you can just replace it with coconut oil. Or….you could use grass fed butter like KerryGold Irish Butter and use coconut oil together to make one big health bomb of a baked potato! I usually put the coconut oil in before and after cooking.

 

7) Put in your hot tea!

hot-teaI know, it sounds gross. Get over it, it’s really pretty good. What the heck do you have to lose here? Tea is cheap. Just try it. The added density and hint of coconut added to the hot tea, not too mention how great your lips feel, makes the tea a much better and healthier experience.
