Coconut Oil Coffee Recipe using Vitamix and Grass Fed Butter (thanks Tom).

Our friend Tom loves to mix his coconut oil and grass fed butter in his coffee, but prefers to use a little more fire power when mixing it. I tend to just stir it in with a spoon, but admittedly, the two fats (coconut oil and grass fed butter) tend to separate and rise to the top of the coffee. Tom’s way is to use a Vitamix to completely blend the fats and coffee.

Here is a look at the before.

As you can see, the grass fed butter and coconut oil are rather distinctly separated from the coffee. If you stir with a spoon, you can get a bit more immersed with the properties, but you will always have some separation which typically leads to the grass fed butter and coconut oil sitting on top and being the primary flavor of the drink throughout the first portion of drinking it. As you drink, the less it becomes, mostly due to your consumption of the fats.

With Tom’s Vitamix version, the results are going to be far superior in terms of getting a good amount of blending and immersion. This way will completely spread the taste out in a more even distribution.

Some people call this Bullet Proof Coffee based on Dave Asprey’s recipe. He also sells coffee, but you can do it how you prefer by going to the store and getting your favorite coffee, cold pressed coconut oil and some grass fed butter (Kerrygold is available at most grocers).

Who’s up for trying this? This can really enhance your coconut oil coffee recipe!
